The degree course at the University of Gastronomic Sciences provides students with a comprehensive education in both sciences and humanities. Graduates will be qualified to work at an international level in the fields of production, processing, distribution and promotion of food and beverages.

The gastronomist trained at the University of Gastronomic Sciences represents a new kind of professional capable of entering the employment market with a solid cultural background, a comprehensive and multidisciplinary knowledge of food culture and science and first-hand experience of production processes and regions.

Three-Year Undergraduate Degree

The three-year program in Gastronomic Sciences offers an education in the fields of history, the humanities, science and technology, economics, management and food communications. The objective is to produce graduates able to occupy a variety of different positions: in commerical and protective consortia; industrial, commerical and catering companies; associations of producers, restaurants or hotel chains; food communication and teaching; any public and private organizations, authorities and companies in which the knowledge of the food, production and consumer sectors is indispensable.

Two-Year Postgraduate Specializations

After the completion of the three-year undergraduate degree, students have the option of continuing their studies with a specialized two-year program in one of two fields:

Food Communication

Food Management

These courses will produce two types of professionals: one will be involved in the field of multimedia promotion and development of food and gastronomy; the other in the mangement of commercial enterprises and companies.

The postgraduate specializations are characterized by lessons, educational stages and a final research thesis. During the two-year program students will be introduced to relevant sectors of the working world.  

The two-year postgraduate specializations will begin in the academic year 2007/2008.

ITALCOOK ¡V Italian Cooking Course   www.italcook.it 

The Istituto Superiore di Gastronomia di Jesi, also called ItalCook and founded by Slow Food Italy and the Commune of Jesi, runs various training courses in the gastronomic field. In particular, the school aims to educate foreign chefs who wish to study Italian cuisine in its truest expression, region by region. In four years of operation, the school has trained over a hundred young chefs.

Our courses include visits to local food producers and daily hands-on experience in the kitchen: dishes featuring the bounty of both land and sea, handmade pastas, wine and olive oil tastings and products of the Slow Food Presidia. Students learn the dishes and recipes of the traditions from the all over the country

Course fee:  £á 3,800.00.

The fee covers room and board in a double or triple room, insurance, cooking classes, wine and olive oil tasting classes, teaching materials and recipes in Italian and English, work clothing, visits to producers and a certificate for course completion.
Single room supplement:  £á 500.00.
